Dolomites

The Dolomites!! What an incredible location that is as close as it gets to photographic perfection. The Dolomites are one of the favorite places I have visited to photograph. If you like mountain air, peaceful quiet locations, beautiful scenery, and driving on twisty road, then you will love the Dolomites. The Dolomites have been on ELlys bucketlist for sometime, we missed during COVID, so we had the chance to visit, late September last year.

Before any photograpic expedition I do a lot of online research, for place to stay, best locations to shoot and of course the food and beverage scene. We flew into Venice and drove to Cortina where preparations were in high gear for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Emerald green lakes, hig hjagged peaks along with green meadows dressed in golden fall colors. Churches sit quietly beneath towering rock faces and endless viewpoints.

As with most photography sunrise and sunset are everything here. Watch the mountains turn pink during alpenglow, with fresh snow for an accent. Wide angles fill your composition..

The Dolomites remind you how powerful landscape photography can be. You feel small in the best possible way. And when the light lines up with the peaks, you realize why you came. I would love to go back in sprint or fall to see a completely new landscape.
